Feeding

There are a lot of ideas out there about proper diet for dogs. Everything from raw meat and vegetables to whatever dry food is cheapest.  We use a high quality dry dog food (our favorite is Taste of the Wild), treats that include meat, fruits and vegetables. There are a few fruits and vegetables that are poisonous to dogs so check that out before you treat.

Avoid chicken necks, and other neck meet. They can cause thyroid problems.

Avoid table scraps or people food. These diets include foods that are not good for, and sometimes poisonous to dogs.

We recommend feeding puppy food until about 6 months of age, then putting them on good quality adult food. We also recommend free feeding which means leaving food out all day and allowing your dog to eat as often and as much as they want. If your dog begins to have a weight problem this might not work for you.
